After a bodged repair by a local London garage to my swirl flaps and deep concerns about my 2001 BMW 530D Touring I consulted Peter from pmwltd about the condition of my car. My regular mechanic whom I have known for 20 years simply took out my swirl flaps and replaced the shafts with bolts. This at some time later, only (900 miles) caused an ingestion into the chamber and ruined my piston and valves and looked like a very time consuming and costly repair. After completion I took my car to peter at pmw and discussed the works. He had his guys strip out the existing bolts that were very unprofessional and replaced with his swirl flap blanking plates. Now I have heard a lot about these plates and swirl flap damage and I can tell you as an ex AA Patrol man that if not done correctly as Peter has done you will cause serious damage to your beloved engine. This is a guy with a great team and a wealth of knowledge behind them who know their stuff, not your usual bit mechanic who ”
knows a bit about engines”. I drove down from Lewisham London to his workshops in Chelmsford and it only took an hour and was easy to get to. If I was you I would call them for your piece of mind because you know like I do that you don’t want just anyone tinkering with your pride and joy. Its worth the drive knowing your car is in safe and knowledgeable hands at pmw. He,s not a rip off either, he is a very reasonable honest mechanic and cheaper than the main dealers out there. My first thoughts are to THANK you and your engineers at PMW Ltd., for the professional manner and work that you completed on my car, details as below.
This car was purchase almost 6 months ago and like many with purchasing an old / but new car to me I took it to my local BMW garage and had the oil and filter changed straight away (to get the necessary stamp in the service book) and for them to check the car over and report any faults (already knowing that I had a slight fault with judder when travelling at about 68 to 72 mph), you can imagine my mixed feelings when I received the car back with a nice new stamp in the service book, but also being told they could find nothing wrong.
I started to check the web and joined various BMW forums, only lurking and reading (as I believe that you learn more by reading and listening than by talking) but did not post, from then on it was a chase to find the problem, the first thing I done was to blank the swirl flaps, then changed the front discs, brake pads and wishbone rubbers, new front tyres and full balancing, then back to the local garage for full electronic wheels alignment.
Still the problem of judder was evident, I felt I had done all the I could, so next find a specialist.
That is where PMW Ltd. came to the fore, as there advise on a forum always seems to make sense and was of a nature that ordinary people can understand.
The car was in there garage for less than 1 hour and they diagnosed the problem. (Torque Convertor), this was 2 weeks ago.
I took the car to them yesterday and dropped it off at 08.00 hours for them to renew the torque convertor and other works as detailed below.

Work completed by PMW Ltd.
New fuel pump
New fuel relay
Glow plugs replaced
Renew vacuum pipes
Replace torque convertor
Renew ATF fluid.
Remap
I picked the car up at about 17.30 hours and went for a test drive (their mechanic Steve was driving) and felt straight away that it was a lot smoother, back to PMW Ltd., and pay for the completed works.
As I have a 80 mile drive home, you can imagine my elation when the car I was driving was nothing like the car I took to PMW Ltd. but like a NEW car, smooth through the gears, in fact had I not listen to the tone of the engine or watched the rev counter I would not have known the gears were changing, it was honestly that smooth.

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice and great service provided by your company.
I have now had swirl flaps removed and turbo replaced and car is running perfectly!
Recieved the blanking plates in extra quick time and the refund for the unused plates
which we returned was processed almost immediately.
Great all round service, would not hesitate to throw future business your way(hopefully not required in the near future)!!

2006 BMW 320D M SPORT
I was a bit concerned over the BMW swirl flap issue and first thought BMW could not have made such error in design.
I thought a 2006 model may have been improved , how wrong I was !
I have worked on many engines and to see oil/soot sludge pouring out of the swirl shaft seals let alone the general incompetence of the intake design was enough for me.
The whole flap mechanism looks and operates like a poor quality kids toy …. Shame on you BMW.
If you have them , get them out and have the PMW Blanks fitted ASAP !!

PMW have been servicing my 323i for years. So many I cannot remember - 8+. From 32k to 180k. The car has given me fantastic economical, powerful and reliable motoring throughout and all thanks to PMWs fantastic and honest servicing. I will now be having my upgraded car (123d ) serviced by them. In fact, there is nowhere else that I know of where I would want my BMW serviced.
Once again PMW Ltd should be acknowledged for their outstanding service. My 530D went in for a rear axle whine which turned out to be the o/s wheel bearing. Although my extended warranty did not appear to cover this, Daniel contacted the warranty administrators and somehow managed to negotiate £207 towards the repair. 11/10 to PMW for their continued superb service and workmanship using original BMW parts. Dont go to main dealers…….use PMW Ltd.

merchants but you guys are what Britain needs more of. If only there

gas pedal you gave from your car as at the time it was impossible to
get hold of one due to the jubilee bank holiday. My gas peddle had a
household hinge connected to it, yeah a household rusty hinge Wow.
